Umkomaas cop to retire after more three decades of service
Warrant Officer Thomas Werner Karl Linsin was described at the true embodiment of discipline, courage and dedication.
Umkomaas Saps’ Warrant Officer Thomas Werner Karl Linsin will be retiring at the end of March after 35 years’ of service.
Linsin, who matriculated from Amanzimtoti High in 1989, grew up with a love for sport which made him join the South African Defence Force and attend military training at Upington in the Northern Cape, where he served as a foot soldier in the infantry.
Later, he joined the SAS Saldhana Navy based at Saldhana Bay, appointed as a seaman.
In 1991 he joined Saps and trained at Pretoria College. Having passed out as a constable he was deployed in the then internal stability unit commonly known as Public Order Policing in Pretoria for a year.
It was in 1992 that he was transferred to Umkomaas Saps, where he has served the local community to the present day.
Linsin worked in the then charge office, crime prevention, detectives and eventually support services as an administration officer. He served as a warrant officer for 23 years.
He leaves Saps with knowledge of three decades of policing, five medals for his loyal service and attended numerous courses within the police.
He studied mechanical draughting and excelled, and attained distinctions in police administration. Aside from his dedication to Saps, Linsin is an avid sportsman and enjoys rugby, swimming, soccer, cricket and surfing.
“He inspires others to rise above the situation and lead confidently at the workplace,” said Captain Ranjith Rampersad, Umkomaas Saps spokesperson.
“Linsin is the true embodiment of discipline, courage, dedication – a rare kind whose presence always shines as a beacon of inspiration.”
“His services contributed to Umkomaas Saps winning the number one seat in South Africa as the best station.”
He is wished a happy early retirement.
