Art-in the-Park in Uvongo draws crowd
The next Art-in-the-Park takes place on April 4 between 09:00 and 14:00.
Visitors to the South Coast will be spoilt for choice with a number of art exhibitions the March/April holiday season, as this coastal stretch is developing into a real artists’ hub.
The artists of local art club, Art by the Sea, will exhibit their works in the food court at Southcoast Mall for the whole holiday season.
Members of the club, now in its 53rd year of existence, get together every Tuesday morning to practise all styles of art. The 40+ members are learning and sharing techniques and skills through lectures, demonstrations and workshops.
Over the years many prominent South African artists had their roots in this club. A selection of their best works will be on display, and all are available to purchase at the mall.
Open art exhibition
The Margate Art Museum is currently hosting its annual open art exhibition, during which local artists showcase some of their favourite paintings. Entrance is free.
Down south, the Sands Gallery in Glenmore features the work of sculptors of KZN and beyond, with a special retrospective focus on the amazing 3D sculptures of local celebrity artist Izidro Duarte…which is well worth a visit.
