Strong teamwork keeps Uvongo safe

Residents are encouraged to support initiatives aimed at strengthening safety and security in the community.

The recent Uvongo Community Police Forum (CPF) meeting was well attended and provided valuable insight into crime trends and ongoing prevention efforts in the area.

Encouragingly, only four residential burglaries were reported over the past month, reflecting a generally stable and secure environment for residents.

Erick Labuschagne, the chairperson of the Uvongo Community Policing Forum (CPF) said the most common issue currently affecting the area is the theft of copper items, including pipes and taps.

The CPF praised the strong collaboration between Saps, Law Enforcement, local security companies – including Wolf Security, Maser Security and ADT – as well as Community in Blue (CiB) members. This coordinated approach continues to play a key role in maintaining safety in Uvongo.

Chairperson Erick Labuschagne thanks Paul Korb for his generous donation.

Resident Paul Korb was acknowledged for his ongoing support, having generously donated solar lights and surveillance cameras. In addition to his contribution, he is actively working alongside Wolf Security to ensure that various systems are integrated and operating effectively. One such system is already in place, providing 24-hour monitoring of Uvongo Beach.

Further support has come from businessmen Sean and John Brennan, who donated 10 WiFi security cameras to the CPF. These will be installed at identified hotspots throughout the area and linked to Wolf Security’s control room for round-the-clock monitoring. The initiative is expected to enhance both preventative and reactive crime-fighting efforts.

Residents are encouraged to attend upcoming CPF meetings.  Contact CPF admin on 084 2498246.
