Community members with an interest in conservation, or simply a curiosity about the natural world around them, are encouraged to attend.
Residents are encouraged to attend an upcoming talk that sheds light on the surprising role everyday properties play in supporting local wildlife.
The event takes place at the Marlin Ski Boat Club in Port Edward on Thursday, May 14 at 17:00.
Hosted as part of the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy’s AGM, the talk will be presented by district ecologist Dr Yvette Ehlers Smith from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. Drawing on four years of camera trap research along the South Coast, she will share fascinating insights into the animals living quietly among us.
From blue duiker spotted in suburban gardens to caracal beginning to move into coastal forests, the research reveals how small pockets of bush and thicket are becoming vital refuge for wildlife. The talk will also explore practical steps residents can take to protect and support biodiversity in their own spaces.
Residents with an interest in conservation, or simply a curiosity about the natural world around them, are encouraged to attend.
