Shoreline Challenge kicks off this Sunday

New walkers who would like to take part can contact David on 082 9530432 to add their names to the list.

The Shoreline Challenge starts on May 17, with the first leg taking walkers from Oslo Beach to NSRI Shelly Beach. Registration starts at 07:30.

The Walking in Nature series is an annual South Coast community event organised by the Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers (HOs).

This year, the Mzimkhulu HOs are partnering with Boogie Babes and the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).

Boogie Babes will join the walks and focus on beach clean-up initiatives, while the NSRI will host two of the start-and-finish points, where breakfast and drinks will be on sale.

The challenge invites participants to walk from Oslo Beach in the north to Port Edward, mainly along the shoreline.

It is divided into eight walks of between five and seven kilometres, taking place on the Sunday closest to the spring tides from May to August.

Entry fee is R50, and dogs on leads are welcome. Safe and secure parking will be available at both the start and finish points.

New walkers can contact David on 082 9530432 to add their names to the list.

Merchandise items will be on sale, with proceeds going towards conservation.
