WATCH: Sardines surprise with Monday visit in Port Edward

Everyone will be hoping more are on the way.

Sardines showed up at Silver Beach in Port Edward early this morning (Monday).

This may not have been entirely expected, as there hadn’t been any after an initial run a few weeks ago.

According to angler Steven Moodley it was a huge net that was hauled in.

The slightly colder snap yesterday may have contributed to this, but with the sardines, it’s always a bit of a guessing game.

Whatever the case, it was a nice surprise for those who were able to net them, and fun for those who could watch.

While the weather is sunny, there is a chill in the air and perhaps more could be on the way.

South Coasters, netters, and fishermen in general will be hoping so, of course.

The first successful haul of the season was on June 14. Here’s hoping for more excitement.
