Mayors talk service delivery via podcast in Port Shepstone
The podcast forms part of GCIS's ongoing efforts to strengthen communication between government and citizens.
Mayors of Umdoni and Umuziwabantu local municipalities as well as Ugu District engaged with communities on service delivery achievements, development milestones and progress made in the 2021–2026 local government term via a podcast in Port Shepstone last week.
Hosted by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), the podcast provided a platform for municipalities to reflect on their accomplishments, outline ongoing development initiatives and strengthen accountability by keeping residents informed about government programmes and services.
The participating municipalities reaffirmed their commitment to responsive governance, transparency and improving the quality of life of communities.

Mayor of Umdoni, Mbali Cele-Luthuli said gravel roads have been tarred, sports fields and community halls built, waste removal provided and street lights have been maintained in the municipality.
Meanwhile, Umuziwabantu mayor Sboniso Zungu encouraged people to vote in the November 4 local government elections.
Sikhumbuzo ‘Zero’ Mqadi, the mayor of Ugu said the district has worked with local municipalities to provide water.
“We are also looking at upgrading our infrastructure especially along the coast. Inland we have new projects to provide water to communities. Pipelines are being installed to supply water through boreholes.”
Also, he added that a new fleet of vehicles have been acquired which will be helpful in taking service delivery to communities.
