Concern is mounting for missing Southport teenager Claudine McGregor (16), who remains unaccounted for despite intensive search efforts over the weekend.

Claudine was last seen on Thursday evening (23rd July) at about 20:47 after allegedly climbing out of her bedroom window and leaving her home on a farm in the Upper Melville area.

Her father, Gerhard Claude McGregor, said K9 Saps Search and Rescue teams searched the area on Friday and again on Sunday, focusing on the route Claudine is believed to have taken when she left the property.

Despite the extensive searches, no trace of the teenager has been found.

“There is no idea where she is, and nobody has come forward over the weekend,” he said.

McGregor said the family is grateful for the support shown by community members, volunteers and the many groups assisting in the search.

“So many groups and people are looking for her. We have no news to share. She is still gone, and we are still very worried.”

However, he expressed frustration over the spread of rumours on social media.

“There are only speculations, with a lot of people being harsh and rude on social media. A lot of false claims are being made, but nothing concrete,” he said.

The family had hoped Claudine may have spent the weekend with friends and would return home or make contact.

“We were hoping it was just the weekend and that she was with friends, but today reality must kick in. It’s Monday, and hopefully something will surface somewhere. We are hoping and praying.”

The family continues to appeal to anyone who may have seen Claudine or has information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or Gerhard Claude McGregor on 061 735 6640.

Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping bring her home safely.
