Emerging South Coast artists embrace green coast theme
The Sands Gallery is passionate about giving emerging artists a platform and showcasing the diversity of creative talent in the community.
This current exhibition at the Sands Gallery at Glenmore Beach shines a spotlight on the emerging talent of students from Esayidi TVET College (Gamalakhe Campus), who made a special effort to create works for the current exhibition ‘Spirits of the Green Coast’.
In the collection, two paintings, ‘From Home to a Dream’ by Nkazimulo Mavundla and ‘Untitled One’ by Andiswa Sanele Cele offered particularly compelling reflections.

Mavundla presents the countryside as home, a small place rooted in family, community and tradition, while a vibrant city skyline on the horizon promises opportunity and ambition.
By contrast, Cele depicts a figure walking towards a rural village, perhaps questioning a return to home as a place of reflection, belonging and identity.
The Sands Gallery hopes this marks the beginning of an even larger representation from the college, encouraging more emerging artists in the area and students to exhibit their work.
