JUST IN: Monday drama as car bursts into flames in Melville

A vehicle was destroyed by fire on the P198 in Melville a short while ago.

Motorists experienced delays on the P198 in Melville a short while ago after a vehicle caught fire and was engulfed in flames.

Emergency services, including Mi7 National Group, Fire and Rescue teams, and Gladiator Security, responded to the incident.

According to information from Mi7, the driver reported smelling smoke while travelling. Shortly afterwards, smoke began entering the vehicle, prompting the driver to pull over to the side of the road.

Moments after stopping, the vehicle burst into flames.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze while emergency personnel secured the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The burnt-out vehicle remained on the roadway while emergency teams worked at the scene, resulting in traffic delays along the P198.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
