Clean-up at Umkomaas beach helps protect coastline and marine life
More than 50 bags of refuse were collected.
Through collaborative effort from like-minded individuals and organisations, August ended with a successful clean-up at Umkomaas beach.
This was held on August 29 thanks to Clean Surf Project, Feral Marine, eThekwini Municipality and the Umkomaas community.
More than 50 bags of refuse were collected and removed.
The dedicated team explained that Umkomaas beach is used daily by locals, visitors and open-water divers exploring the magnificent Aliwal Shoal, so keeping this coastline clean is important for everyone.
Among the unusual finds this time around were Christmas decorations!
