Pundit Piyush Misra explained verses from the Bhagavad Gita. The emphasis was on creating harmony and love in the purest form through pious actions, bhakti (devotion), and service to others, and detachment from sense gratification and material attachment.

“Lord Krishna is the 8th Avatar of Vishnu Bhagwan. Our scriptures state that whenever there is unrighteous behaviour, chaos, and disorder, God descends to earth in human form as an avatar for peace and harmony. Interestingly, although Krishna Bhagwan appeared in human form, he had a divine body which was not composed of the five elements. He came into this world to teach us that even in the darkest times, goodness, faith, and love can prevail,” said Sew Ghingai.

Senior reporter Sugan Naidoo is a true son of the South Coast soil.
