The Port Shepstone Andhra Sabha once again showcased its commitment to nurturing Telugu culture and youth talent at a recent eisteddfod.

Although originally intended to attract participation from Andhra Sabha organisations in Durban and other regions, the Eisteddfod was ultimately held in Port Shepstone due to limited participation from other areas.

Officials from the Andhra Maha Sabha of South Africa (AMSSA) attended and were treated to an impressive display of talent by the reigning Telugu eisteddfod champions, the Port Shepstone Andhra Sabha.

About 200 parents, family members and well-wishers filled the hall, proudly supporting those taking part. While adults took part in group items including bhajans, choir and Kolatum, the main focus was firmly on the youth and children, who excelled in individual categories such as Padyams, Balaala Paata, light song and melodic instrumental performances.

The vibrant group programme also featured bhajan, choir, choral Padyam, Gobbi and modern dance, creating a colourful celebration of Telugu culture, music and tradition.

Officials from AMSSA were impressed by the dedication, commitment and exceptional talent displayed by the youth.

Certificates and gifts were presented to all participating youth, while certificates were also awarded for the various group items.

The successful day concluded on a warm and hospitable note, with a delectable lunch served, making the eisteddfod a memorable celebration of culture, community and young talent.
