A fire that broke out at a block of flats in Forest Road, Manaba, earlier this morning has caused extensive damage to the top floor of the building.

The blaze was brought under control by emergency services, and no injuries have been reported.

The double-storey residential property is situated opposite the Indigo Bay complex. The building has permanent tenants, although the exact number of units could not immediately be confirmed.

Resident Elzette Didloff, who captured video of the fire, said the blaze could be clearly seen from the Total garage in the area.

“The top floor was totally damaged,” said Didloff.

She said a resident from the unit where the fire is believed to have started was extremely shaken by the incident and could not say what had caused the fire.

Firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control.

Didloff thanked the Fire Department, Wolf, Maser, ADT and Saps for their response and assistance.

Further information on the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire is expected as assessments continue.
