Deep dive into life beneath the waves fascinates South Coasters

Dr Deborah Robertson-Andersson is expected to be back next year.

A recent visit by marine scientist Dr Deborah Robertson-Andersson gave South Coast residents a fascinating glimpse into the complex social lives of the creatures living beneath our ocean’s surface.

Deborah presented The Deep Dive – Love, War & Society in Our Deep Blue at Port Shepstone Country Club, in a talk hosted by Bendigo Conservancy.

Taking the audience beneath South Africa’s waves, she explored the fascinating societies of whales, sharks and orcas, looking at their relationships, rivalries and social behaviour.

Her presentation offered a different perspective on marine life, highlighting the intelligence, cooperation and complex interactions that take place below the surface.

The talk also provided an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing marine life and the importance of understanding and protecting the ocean and the creatures that depend on it.
