Port Edward Library has received a green makeover.
This is thanks to the work of the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy (UMC) hands-on team, which joined forces with the Landosol Nursery landscaping team to plant indigenous, pollinator-friendly plants.
UMC chairman Renée Alcock said the project would create a low-maintenance garden to welcome library visitors while supporting local pollinators.
“A town library is usually known as the hub of knowledge in a community,” she said.

“Due to the generosity of Landosol and UMC plant donors, a low-maintenance garden will greet you at your next library visit.”
The transformation was enjoyed by library staff and regular blood donors in the adjacent Library Hall, who watched the garden take shape.
Alcock said the project highlights the value of community organisations, businesses and volunteers working together to improve shared spaces and encourage indigenous planting.
