Fun walk in Scottburgh helps raise funds for Khanya Hospice

A variety of stalls and music throughout the day helped create a fun atmosphere.

The Colour Fun Walk for Khanya Hospice, held at Scottburgh Beach recently, was a major success.

A number of people attended, showing their support for a worthy cause.

There was also a variety of stalls and music throughout the day, which helped create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Nibia Canovi of Lifestyle Events said organising such events is about so much more than simply bringing people together.

“I have always wanted to give back to our community and help non-profit organisations raise much-needed funds,” she explained.

“This is close to my heart because of my late mother, Lorna Thompson, who sadly suffered from breast cancer. Watching my mother go through her journey made me realise how important compassion, care and support are for patients and their families.”

“My mother’s journey has inspired me to continue helping where I can. I believe that if I have the opportunity to bring people together through an event and use that platform to help a non-profit, then I should do so. Even the smallest contribution can make a difference!”

The day kicked off with Bronwyn Tanner leading a warm-up routine. Her dancing and enthusiasm contributed greatly.

DJ AJ provided the sound and helped keep the energy levels up throughout the day.

For the colour walk, RE/MAX Property ensured participants stayed hydrated by sponsoring the water.

Also present and ever ready were the Umdoni lifesavers. They remained alert on the beach and assisted at the event where necessary, especially when it came to helping people safely cross the river on their walk.

A special thanks to Umdoni Ambulance and AT Security for their presence.

On behalf of Khanya Hospice, manager Victor Hariram thanks attendees, volunteers, sponsors, donors and stallholders.
