Sheppie High prioritises learner well-being

The public is reminded of the school's upcoming production of 'Sister Act'.

Port Shepstone High recently hosted an awareness day for Grades 8s and 9s, partnering with valuable community resources.

Constable Sakhile Nzama of the Saps presented a talk on critical issues faced by young people today: bullying, violence, sexual assault, body shaming and cyberbullying.

Nzama provided learners with tools to navigate the complexities of social interaction to ensure their own safety.

Also, Andile Mthiyane from the Sitholimpilo Rehabilitation Centre offered an honest and informative presentation on the dangers of drug use. He went beyond simply discouraging drug use but emphasised the importance of making positive choices and building strong peer relationships.

Key takeaways included prioritising academic achievement, building a strong foundation for future success, developing self-confidence and pursuing goals independently.

This initiative demonstrates the school’s commitment to the holistic well-being of learners.

Take note: The Dramatic Arts Department presents a production of ‘Sister Act’. Based on the hit 1992 film, ‘Sister Act’ is a feel-good musical comedy filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a heart-warming story.

Tickets are on sale until May 11 at the payments office or available at the door for the evening shows. Show dates are May 9-11 at 18:00.
