Thrilling showdown at inter-house athletics day

The competition was fierce, with the leader board shifting throughout the day.

Scottburgh High’s recent annual inter-house athletics day brought the school grounds alive with fierce competition, vibrant spirit and unforgettable moments.

The three houses, Devon, Aliwal and Barrow, went head-to-head in a spirited battle across a range of athletic events including high jump, long jump, sprinting, shot put, discus and javelin.

The longstanding rivalry among the houses fuelled the day with banter, cheers and relentless determination as each house vied for supremacy and coveted trophies. The athletes showcased talent and grit, from explosive sprints to soaring high jumps and powerful throws in shot put, discus and javelin, every event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the athletes.

The long jump pit saw incredible leaps, while the track echoed with the thunder of sprinters pushing their limits.

Each house rallied behind their athletes, with war cries ringing out consistently, amplifying the electric atmosphere.

The competition was fierce, with the leader board shifting throughout the day.

In the end, Devon emerged victorious, clinching the overall title with an impressive 274 points. Aliwal put up a strong fight, securing a close second place with 249 points, while Barrow took third with 172 points. The tight race, especially between Devon and Aliwal, kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

The prestigious Stan Poole Trophy was awarded to Devon for their outstanding performance in key events.

The Spirit Cup, awarded to the house that displayed the most enthusiasm, unity and energy, also went to Devon.

Every participant gave their all, embodying sportsmanship and determination.
