Port Shepstone Islamic School provides exam support to matrics

Learners were motivated and provided with expert tuition assistance for the National Senior Certificate examinations.

In the lead-up to the National Senior Certificate exams, Port Shepstone Islamic School hosted a crucial Matric Intervention Outreach Programme for neighbouring schools: Port Shepstone High, Port Shepstone Secondary, Sister Joan’s Secondary, Marburg Secondary and Merlewood Secondary.

Approximately 80 learners attended classes in mathematics, physical science and accounting held at the school from September 27 to 29.

The programme aimed to motivate learners, provide expert tuition assistance, and prepare them for the NSC exams, addressing critical needs in the lead-up to the exams.

Some of the highlights include: expert tuition that was provided by a selection of skilled teachers; teaching approaches/lessons that were creative and enhanced learner engagement; lessons were well-received, judging from their positive response; facilitators demonstrated passionate commitment, creating effective communication and connection with the learners; relevant study and material/resources were provided; attendance was exemplary and a supportive and engaging atmosphere was created.

Learners were also mentored to make an impact in their communities and nurture future leaders and contributors.
Feedback suggested extending the intervention programme to yield deeper benefit, allowing more comprehensive coverage and consolidation of content.

Learners indicated an interest in life science within the programme’s scope, indicating subject-specific needs/gaps apparent to participants.

The programme is a testament to Port Shepstone Islamic’s commitment to the community, and to the learners’ academic success.

Refreshments and snacks were provided at no cost to participating learners.
