DEAR Editor,-
The Arts, Film and Video Forum Awards dinner last Saturday was a resounding success, and as such an event is not possible without the support of sponsors and others who have helped, we would like to say ‘thank you’ via your paper to those who made it possible.
Our thanks go to Ugu South Coast Tourism, Hibiscus Coast Municipality, Harbour View SuperSpar, Uvongo Music Shop and South Coast Herald for stepping in with financial and prize sponsorships. Wimpy Hibberdene, Burlesque Restaurant and The Waffle House supported us with vouchers. Walton’s Stationery, Michael Frey’s Fresh Meat, Digital Office Solutions and Jay’s Studio helped with providing resources when we desperately needed it. Gate Ministries’ leadership, music team and youth and many others sacrificed their time and effort to ensure that all the background work was done.
We are also grateful to all who entered the contest and those who attended the function. The evening showcased a wide array of local talent and without doubt we can say that we can hold our own in the world of creative arts.
We also congratulate Lindokuhle Khuzwayo, Helgard du Preez and Liam Naidoo on winning first prizes in the video, photography and music categories respectively.
The event was also held as a tribute to Nelson Mandela and we were honoured to have the presence of Mayor Cynthia Mqwebu.
Further, this event will go down in the history of our organisation as one in which the cause of developing the arts on the South Coast took a great step forward. We look forward to bigger and better things to come as the AFVF will look to promote the arts on the South Coast.
HILTON O’DWYER
Chairman: Arts, Film and Video Forum (AFVF)
