Michael saved my day

It was delightful that Michael persisted in chasing me.

DEAR Editor,-

I would appreciate it if the following letter could be inserted in your newspaper as soon as possible.

During December, I inadvertently left my purse with cash, my ID, bank cards and driving licence, etc. on the roof of my car and drove off! The angels were with me that day because the purse did not fall off for at least one and a half kilometres, including around corners.

Waiting at the stop sign was a bakkie from ‘The Lockmaster’ and as I watched in the rear view mirror, I saw the driver turn back the way he had come. After about another kilometre or so, I saw him signalling for me to pull over. Being a bit nervous about things like that, I kept going a little further until I decided to stop and as he got out his bakkie I saw my purse in his hand!

I covered my face with my hands, totally gobsmacked. How stupid of me to forget my purse and how delightful that this ‘knight in shining armour’ persisted in chasing me. His name is Michael Smit and he was such a gentleman, with tons of manners and courtesy. In this day and age, it really was something that not too many people would have done.

When I eventually got home, I remembered seeing yellow logos on the vehicle, so I tracked him through the yellow pages to say all the thanks that I did not say at the time.

If it were not for Michael, I would have had such a traumatic time trying to cancel and replace all the various cards, etc. mentioned above. Once again Michael, many, many thanks and may God bless you.
