Msikaba community takes a stand

We don't know who these faceless people are who organised the march on Tuesday, January 28.

DEAR Editor,-

I am writing in response to the article in your paper dated January 24, namely ‘Gamalakhe community wants ward councillor out’.

Firstly I would like to highlight that ward 25 is made up of five voting districts namely Msikaba, Masele, Madwaleni, Thafeni and Nkulu. Our ward is not part of Gamalakhe.

I am a member of the Msikaba community. I think is important that I clarify what really happened and what the stand of the community is with regards to the march. It is true that the community was not satisfied with some service delivery issues and decided to call the mayor. We are grateful that she showed true leadership.

The mayor came to the community meeting dated November 24 to listen to our grievances and came back to give the report to the community at a meeting on December 8. We’re happy that most services delivery issues raised at the meeting had been attended to and the community is satisfied. With regards to the ward councillor, we were promised the council and the party will deal with the matter and I hope they are doing so.

We don’t know who these faceless people are who organised the march on Tuesday, January 28, and what the reasons were for them to do so. Which is why the community did not support the march.

As a community we are happy with the gains of freedom and the progress we see in our lives. Yes, there are challenges but we’ve got a lot to celebrate after 20 years of freedom.
