‘Every cloud has a silver lining’

It would help curb crime because vacant houses are normally occupied by vagrants.

DEAR Editor,-

Regarding vacant properties in Uvongo, my view is that if it were possible, why not give the property to a couple who can manage and look after it?

My fiancé and I feel that if we were given the chance, we would take over the property and manage it. We have been living in caravan parks for almost two years now, and all we want is our own home.

We are willing to take up the challenge because every cloud has a silver lining, and we are sure that with some funding from the Uvongo community and local businesses we can turn the vacant house into a home.

I am sure that the Uvongo community and residents in the area would sleep better and rest assured knowing that their help had gone to make someone else’s dream come true, and also in the process had helped curb crime as these vacant houses are normally used by vagrants and they do resort to committing crime in the area.

I am also sure that local businesses can donate towards building materials, etc.

We are prepared to ‘get down and dirty’. It’s going to take some work to get the place up to living standards, but I am sure it is possible.

HOPEFUL
