‘Owners never check why dogs are barking’

Neighbours are fed up with dogs being allowed to bark unchecked.

DEAR Editor,-

We have moved to Southport recently, what a lovely quiet neighbourhood to stay in … until recently when extra dogs moved in. Some people have four dogs, others have up to 12 dogs, and on the property where we live, there are three dogs.

Boy! When they decide (which is every day) that they are really going to make as much noise as possible, they will bark at nothing, at each other by the fence, at each other across the street, when anyone decides to go for a walk, or to school, or work, the dogs will let everyone in Southport know all about it!

The problem is that when the dogs bark, their owners never seem to come out to see what they are barking at and never attempt to stop the noise. Surely if your dogs bark, you automatically go out to see what they are barking at, sort out the problem and quieten them down?

Do you not realise that, should you one day need someone to help you when your dogs bark, neighbours may be your only protection, but at this time, no-one will even go outside to look, because everyone is tired of jumping up and down all day and night because your dogs bark at nothing, and you don’t seem to care.
