‘Pageant selection process is unfair’

Judges are always choosing the same girls which demotivates everyone else.

DEAR Editor,-

I am a young lass aged 15 and have taken part in various modelling pageants on the South Coast. I must admit that I am very disappointed that at every pageant the same girls win. Judges are always choosing the same girls which demotivates everyone else.

Why do organisers spend money on entry forms when they know beforehand who is going to win? I strongly believe that this is a money-making scheme because the prizes received by winners are not worth the entry fee?

The new thing now is that pageant organisers choose only one winner per age category, which is shocking and not fair at all! Girls of 15 years old are competing against girls aged up to 24, so younger entrants don’t stand a chance as the older girls are more experienced and mature.

Pageant organisers, please bear this in mind: Be realistic and categorise entrants accordingly. Also, encourage judges to choose different winners so that all entrants can be motivated to enter future pageants.

Everyone would like to see some new winners in future editions of the South Coast Herald.
