DEAR Editor,-
We are all citizens of this country and as citizens, we are all expected to abide by the law. Therefore, those entrusted with enforcing the law, must also abide.
Yes, it is traffic officers that I am referring to. According to my knowledge and from recent research I have done, the company contracted to the Hibiscus Coast Municipality to enforce law on the roads, particularly pertaining to fines, acts illegally.
There are three points that stand out, namely, a blatant disregard of uniform. Where are the yellow and orange vests which the law states must be worn? Secondly, they are not allowed to hide in bushes. Come on man, seriously, this is not allowed. The law clearly states that law enforcers must be on firm, solid ground and in clear view of traffic. And last, but not least, no traffic fine can be issued if motorists are trapped from behind. You can only be fined if you are trapped and photographed head-on.
My intention is not to offend anyone, but simply to educate my fellow South Coasters that fair is fair. Everyone must follow the rules, even traffic officers.
