TWO men sat talking at the airport. No, this is not the start of one of those corny jokes like ‘two guys walk into a bar’. (Ouch!)
The two men, one in his 60s, the other mid 50s, were engaged in an animated conversation.
“What are you doing here?” asked the older one.

“Fetching my new mother-in-law, alone. Not sure how that fell to me but here we are,” he said.
“Just give her a big hug and a kiss and I’m sure she’ll love you,” came the reply. “At the very least it’ll surprise her!”
Then he added his own reason for being at the airport. “That’s nothing, I’m here to fetch my ex-wife!”

Not too far away was a younger man, probably late 40s.
He was tall, well built, with a cool haircut and an earring. Plus an eye brow that lifted upwards when he frowned.
He was with his daughter, probably 19 or 20, and possessing the physique of a beach volleyball player.
She was clearly excited about something. Perhaps mom was on the incoming plane?
Turns out she wasn’t.
Instead it was her boyfriend, a very tall fellow, and someone who has obviously spent a fair amount of time in the gym.
Dad and daughter’s boyfriend shook hands. “Pleased to meet you,” said the dad, obligingly.
The handshake appeared inordinately long.
The veins in the dad’s arms protruded, definitely. Forearm muscles bulged.
The young man’s smile changed just enough to suggest a grimace and I’m sure I heard a wince.
Definitely some eye widening and probably some bones being crushed!
“Pleased to meet you, Sir,” he replied.
The dad gave him a steely look, eyebrow sharply angled, and then slowly let go.
He smiled warmly, perhaps feeling he had made his point, or maybe seeing something he could respect. And with that any tension evaporated.
