With regards to the recent spate of water disruptions, Ugu District Municipality blames this on employees who went on an illegal work stoppage.
This is an ongoing problem and we demand to know what disciplinary action Ugu has taken.
This is a dismissible offence and Ugu should not condone or tolerate such behaviour.

The question is – Is Ugu afraid of the union or does the union dominate Ugu management?

RESPONSE RECEIVED FROM UGU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY
We note and appreciate the opinions expresses by ‘Concerned Voter’ regarding water disruptions caused by illegal work stoppage.
We did pronounce ourselves on various media platforms in this regard and reiterate our stance that these unwarranted work stoppages are treated with the disdain they deserve.
We are currently in a process of executing due disciplinary measures to the affected members of staff.
And the proclamations made which suggest that the municipality is scared of the union is totally devoid from reality and viewed as intending to peddle unnecessary sensationalism.
We also share some of the concerns related to the impact of work stoppages and are putting stringent measures in place to curb the re-occurrence of these illegal work stoppages.
