George Clooney has never really been my favourite actor, probably because he’s a bit too cool and handsome.
Then those coffee ads came along, where he battles bravely to obtain the perfect brew for the Queen.
I find them hilarious, especially when the Queen asks ‘what about the rest of the kingdom?’

He rolls his eyes, and sets off to do his duty. Again.
Not unlike the modern married bloke.
Quickest way to check if something needs to get done is to get comfortable on the couch.
But George has tapped into an often underrated means of keeping the Queen happy… ensure a consistent supply of quality coffee.
My wife describes it as soothing, this despite it containing caffeine, which should really have the opposite effect.
I’ve come to calling it her calming juice. She laughs, but it’s true.
The sometimes frantic and frenetic morning routine goes even more awry if a steaming mug is not waiting.
Even the click of the kettle being switched on can bring a peaceful atmosphere in the house, even if kids have been slow to get dressed, haven’t packed their lunch box and dad is a tiny bit distracted catching up on sports highlights.
So, my number one job in the morning is to ensure coffee awaits next to the mirror and make-up bag.
Somehow, I have fluked onto the perfect formula for how the Queen likes her brew: coffee in first, one spoon of sugar, quite a lot of milk, then pour the water. Stir for a few seconds, leaving some coffee grains floating on top.
Or so I think.
It’s probably just the fact that she doesn’t have to make it herself.
I suspect so because she ends up drinking it almost cold.
What is it exactly she likes so much?
