My Take: To leave or not to leave

Stories being shared on the site have revealed that there's a lot less hatred between different race groups than may be the common perception.

LEAVE. It’s a wonderful word for those who are tired and in need of rest.

Mine has just come to an end, but it’s been two weeks of fun.

It’s been said a break is as good as a holiday and allows you to get an outside look at life and work, in the same way flying in a plane can do.

You realise there’s a much bigger picture to life and you’re a small part of it all.

Some people are leaving our country, others are staying.

The pessimist may say ‘but crime is out of control, the economy is doomed’.

The optimist, while not unaware of the concerns, says ‘I’m here to make a difference’.

Fans of Springbok Eben Etzebeth will be hoping he does not have to leave Japan early to face any hearings regarding the now infamous nightclub issue involving the ‘Langebaan Four’.

Hopefully, the truth will prevail. If the big lock is guilty or racism and assault, then he must face the consequences.

If not, then an apology is due to him.

Regardless of who did what, or didn’t, the incident should serve as a reminder that a person is innocent until proven guilty.

It should not become a trial by media, no matter how strong the emotions.

Sticking with sport, our Proteas need to find some spirit and belief in the three Test series in India.

Captain Faf du Plessis’s ‘leave’ in the second inning collapse was ill judged and he was stunned to see the ball clatter into his stumps.
