DEAR editor,-
With regards to the recent article entitled ‘Life sentence for pensioner’s murderer’ (SCH November 29) about the brutal killing of a local elderly Anerley resident and the subsequent sentencing of the perpetrator to a life sentence.

However, this serious crime would have been another statistic were it not for the good detective work of DWO Mark John and his team using DNA and other scientific methods that led to the arrest of the killer Bhekinkosi Sibongiseni Madlala.
On behalf of the community, I would like to acknowledge that DWO Mark John and team walked the extra mile ensuring justice is served.
