Until about 1.30pm today, I was a little stressed – I had zip to write about.

I wandered around the garden snapping photos of butterflies and flowers – all the time thinking, this will never cut it for a blog.
Next minute, our neighbour gives us a call – there is a LARGE green mamba dangling in their tree, scaring the birds, and making its merry way to our tree.
Never fear, a quick call and Sarel van der Merwe, the South Coast’s snake catcher, is on his way.
Get the stepladder out!
In all hype, I lock up the pack of dogs – and we venture to the bottom of the garden.
By now, Sarel is already up the very tall tree with his tongs.
The snake starts to plays games and slithers back across into to the neighbour’s side of the tree.
The stepladder in lowered down and passed over the fence to the neighbouring garden.
Sarel then drives across to the neighbour’s yard, only to find the snake making his way back to our overgrown garden.
The yard-hopping scenario happens a few times for Sarel.
The battery of my camera starts to go flat, so I nip back to the house to fetch my back-up battery.
On the way up the driveway, our two dogs, Dino and Pip – known to fight with each other at the drop of a hat – get into a tiff which quickly escalates into a proper brawl, with blood and fur flying, my high-pitched scream providing background music to the fight scene.
By then, Sarel had, much to my relief, nabbed the ‘big green’.
But, let’s not talk about my shattered nerves! They may still need a few days to return to something resembling ‘unfrazzled’.
