LOCKDOWN BLOG: Not going anywhere… slowly – Day 12

When ever the world falls apart, people turn to music.

So, I devoured half a loaf of bread today.

Bread, butter, polony, avo and pickled chillies… one slice after another.

The pickle sarmie eating spree started at 4.30am, and carried on for most of the day.

Perhaps raking the front garden for most of the day on Saturday and then spring cleaning the entire house on Sunday cranked up an appetite.

Who knows – but since lockdown I crave and eat anything in – ‘car-bo-hy-drate’ form – potatoes, rice and bread.

I’m calling it ‘stress eating’.

Truth is, I’m seriously going to roll out of lockdown.

I’m pretty disturbed by this thought.

I wash the ‘Bombay sandwich’ as I have now named it, down with a cup of sugary milky tea.

Instead of one sugar, I take two nowadays.

While making the tea, I have a habit of lighting an incense stick to calm the nerves.

The days are slower and every hour seems to linger.

The radio is on and I hear legendary David Gilmour in the background … ‘I have become comfortably numb.’

Unquestionably, music makes us humans tick.

Whenever the world falls apart, people turn to music.

It’s the music which saves us during the darkest hours.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that I was also dancing in the kitchen while scoffing down those sarmies.
