LOCKDOWN BLOG: Take me back to the beach – Day 19

If you miss the ocean as much as I do, this one is specially for you.

I don’t know about you but the thing I’m missing the most is that five letter word – BEACH!

Me missing the ocean is on a par with being homesick when travelling.

I haven’t put a toe in the sea sand since lockdown – and it feels like centuries.

Like many South Coasters I live, eat and sleep the ocean.

Outings to the beach are a weekend habit.

The sun, the sand, salt water and the waves are our ‘fixes’.

So, on the way home from work I briefly stopped and snapped some pics for those who miss the ocean as much as I do.

Today, the rain has set in, the sky is a moody grey, and the sea looks somewhat gnarly.

I drive past a woman who is stretched over her passenger seat with her hand, clasping a cellphone. dangling out the window.

She shouts at me from the car “Isn’t this just so beautiful? I’m stealing a quick photo…”

“You’re so darn right!”  I yell back.

I noticed just how incredibly spectacular this vast body of water looked, the sound of crashing of waves, the chilly wind against my cheeks and the brilliant shades of blue-green against the sky.

Just give me one day at the beach, and I’ll be able to do an extra 14 days…

I pinkie swear, Mr President.
