LOCKDOWN BLOG: The hustle to stay in the game – Day 21

No matter how we look at it - NOTHING will ever be the same after lockdown, or after Covid-19 .

I will never forget the last time I took a kayak onto the Mzimkhulu River.

It seems so long ago, but it was only three days before lockdown, and it was truly a magnificent afternoon.

As I drifted down the river in the afternoon sun, I spotted two resident fish eagles, and a host of birds, plus a family of dassies.

I also remember feeling fit and strong. I had been paddling for a solid three months.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that, less than a month later, life would be like it is.

A lot had changed. This virus is a game-changer!

I am no longer paddle-fit, and honestly, I am feeling mentally drained.

Never, when I (or anyone else, I’m sure) welcomed in 2020, did I imagine what lay ahead for us.

I guess that’s the beauty of life – we can’t predict what tomorrow brings.

I love the quote by American author, Wayne Dyer – “Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.”

No matter how we look at it – NOTHING will ever be the same after lockdown, or after Covid-19 .

Nothing!

My afternoon on the river is long forgotten.

As someone said today, this virus is, and will change our lives and livelihoods.

And it has, like it or not.

All the things we took for granted – the walks on the beach, the kayak adventures, the run down the road, are now a distant memory.

It is all the beautiful memories we have collected in our minds, captured on our cellphones and cameras, that we hold onto – so dearly.

It’s those beautiful memories of life before Covid-19 that keep us daily hustling.

I don’t know about you – but lately I’m hustling just to stay in the game!
