Since the country moved down to level 3 of the lockdown, more businesses have opened, the curfew has fallen away, but a lot of the regulations remain… but not to some people.
There are many who have decided to completely ignore any and sometimes all regulations and choose to live their lives exactly how they did before the pandemic began.
These are serious times, yet people still refuse to take things seriously.
Here on the mid-South Coast, sardine season has been quite a hit recently.
With all the hype, a lot of people (local and from out of town) were at the beaches every day looking out for the sards.

It’s known that only fishermen with permits are allowed on the beach, yet almost the entire town was at certain beaches on certain days – including lots of children.
Many people dived into the action at the beach with personal protective equipment, but there was still a handful that chose not to even wear a mask.
In my opinion, this was all just unnecessary and risky behaviour for fish.
Not only were these people taking health risks, they could have easily picked up something at the beach from another person and spread it to friends and family adding to the country’s positive cases.
Some would say that it was only this one time where people got out of hands and ignored regulations because of their excitement at this annual and much anticipated event, but that’s not always the case.
Almost every other day, people are seen at the beach swimming, picnicking or just socialising.
Besides the beach, there are some who are still having social gatherings with large numbers of people and going on like everything is normal… Please note: Everything is NOT normal!

The more you decide to be selfish and ignore the regulations put in place to protect everyone, the more you risk your own life, and the lives of those around you.
If you’re not going out for work or essentials, try to stay home in order to stay safe.
Look at it this way, the sooner people start to take things more seriously and properly adhere to these regulations, the easier it will be for our country to beat the virus and go back to the good old days.
