Times have been pretty tough for most of us during the last couple of months, because of the big impact Covid-19 has had.
South Africans faced many hardships and a great number of people struggled to make ends meet as they were unable to work, which meant no pay.
Then there were the those who were still able to make a living, but they faced the battle to figure out ways to deal with restrictions such as not being able to visit parks and beaches, not being able to smoke or enjoy a drink (legally).

Now that Level 2 has been announced and restrictions lifted, people still choose to moan about not being able to have large gatherings, or not being able to stay out until late-o’clock, still having to wear a mask everywhere… the list is endless.
People are dying, battling the invisible enemy – Covid-19, and some are not even able to put food on their table yet there are those who still want to complain about the minor things we have to deal with during the lockdown.
It’s time people focus more on the good in life instead of complaining 24/7 about… anything they possibly can.
Almost everyone is guilty of complaining about not having enough freedom in the past several months.
I also constantly chuntered about sitting at home and not working, and not being able to go to the beach AKA my happy place, but after seeing people dying around me because of this virus, I realised we have bigger issues to worry about.
The next time you feel your life isn’t going well and are furious at the world and what has become of it because of Coronavirus:
- Be grateful for waking up each day surrounded by your loved ones, because not everybody has that privilege. A lot of families were left heart-broken after Covid-19 suddenly swept away a loved one.
- Be grateful for being employed and receiving an income during these trying times, because not everyone can find employment during a pandemic.
- Be grateful for having three meals a day, because not everyone can afford it.
There are just so many things to be grateful and thankful for in life, but we are so focused on the little things that we take the more important things for granted.
Even though our country is going through a lot right now, be grateful to be alive and have a positive attitude.
