DEAR Editor;
In Port Shepstone, Ugu District Municipality is solely responsible for water delivery, which is getting worse and worse.
The Helen’s Rock pump station has been closed due to high salinity levels.
Yes, they were extracting water from a river where they said high tides had pushed up and hence salty water was extracted!

Wow! So there have never before been high tides?
That is just this drama. The rest…? You know the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) ‘invited’ Ugu to parliament?
Then lockdown happened and parliament was closed. No answers.
That bullet dodged, thanks to the coronavirus.
What do the Department of Water Affairs and Cogta say about the crisis?
Diddly squat, that’s what.
Entire communities, suburbs and small towns frequently have erratic or no water supply.
NOTHING is said while the people suffer.
It’s sad when the cries of the people are disregarded.
I will not stop. Tell me, if you had a cup of water, would you drink it or use it to wash your hands?
I am extremely disillusioned and upset.
