Dear black man
Can you for once be on our side? Can you at least try and find out what the issue is, before you start making unpleasant comments about how we choose to look?
Let me explain it to you. I have natural hair and I love my afro, but I also own wigs. For me and a number of other black women it is very hard to maintain natural hair (an afro to be exact).

It takes money and a lot of time to make sure that my hair looks beautiful, neat and still keep it natural.
After the recent shampoo saga I saw a lot of men making comments on social media about how black women hate their hair and put on ‘fake hair’ (wigs and weaves).
We put on the wigs because they are quick and easy to maintain. Wigs or weaves last for years and save us when we’ve run out of ideas on how to style our natural hair.
I have noticed how easy it is for most black men to quickly throw us under the bus. That is not the only issue.
It goes all the way to judging how a black woman “should” dress, and how certain ways of dressing are not for us and are for women of a certain race only.
The list is endless, when all we need is a little back-up and protection from our brothers.
Please stop it! It is not only unattractive but is also a form of abuse.
