OPINION: ‘Mixed feelings over career policeman’s retirement’

The town will miss you Edward but you deserve your rest and release from the pressures of your position.

EDITOR

It is with mixed feelings that I read of the retirement of Lt-Col Edward Stephen.

A man who was instrumental in his active support of my efforts to establish neighbourhood watches and CPFs – always available with advice, both verbal and practical.

He was always just a phone call away, assisting in the growth of my neighbourhood watches and later as CPFs took over.

I was honoured to be elected executive chairman of the greater Port Shepstone CPF, as well as the Tweni and Southport CPFs, due to his support and guidance.

The town will miss you Edward but you deserve your rest and release from the pressures of your position.

We wish you the very best because you deserve only the best.
