For a change Lewis Hamilton didn’t have it all his own way in qualifying, or the early part of the race during the Turkish Grand Prix.
However, good decision making by the team and another terrific drive by the champion saw him secure victory.
He now has 94 Grand Prix wins to his credit, with 21 wins for McLaren and 73 wins for Mercedes.
In winning the championship at this race he has equalled Michael Schumacher’s seven championships! Total domination.
It was an exciting race in wet and very slippery conditions, which resulted in some interesting feats.
Many people spun off, with Valtteri Bottas unfortunately doing it more than others.
The Ferraris featured well and came home in third and fourth places behind Sergio Perez in the Racing Point.
Teammate Lance Stroll was the hero of qualifying and also did very well in the early part of the race, but then something went wrong and his position deteriorated to an eventual ninth.
The race really was a lottery at times under very trying conditions and we must be grateful that nobody got hurt, strangely the pace car never had to come out, although they did have to run under virtual safety car conditions at one stage.
Next race will be at Bahrain in the desert, so that one should be dry.
