Pennington Ski-boat Club hosted its annual dads, lads and daughters fishing competition last weekend.
Thirteen boats entered the competition and 23 juniors took part.
The aim is to encourage juniors to get involved in deep sea fishing.
First prize went to Kyle Antel with a 32.90kg yellowfin tuna; second prize to Chad Stead with a 13.95kg barracuda and third prize to Kyle again with a 13.18kg yellowtail.
Pennington Community Watch hosts its annual fundraising Christmas Fair at The Doghouse Cafe (R102, South Coast road) today (16th) from 8am to 2pm.
Join them for a fun-filled family day with music, wood-smoked meaty eats, tea garden with delicious cakes, coffee and surprise prizes, craft beer, arts and crafts.
There is also a bass fishing competition and entertainment for the children.
A market of locally made goods is also on at Selborne Park Golf Club today (16th).
The Kickstands will be playing live music.

Stainless steel dinner plates are needed for decorating the Rotary therapy playground at the rape crisis centre at GJ Crookes Hospital.
The aim is to create a rustproof durable rainbow showing the children that there is hope ahead.

Osisibathemba (Sisters of Hope) requires one outfit from your cupboard. It should be in good condition and previously loved.
The Sisters of Hope has a wardrobe at the crisis centre where abused clients can choose a new outfit.
In this way, we hope to lift their spirits, allow them to feel fresh and ensure they leave without the memory they’d rather forget.
Drop off in a sealed packet in the suitcase at Second Changes in Pennington.
While all sizes are welcome – children’s outfits of all sizes are particularly needed at this stage.

I know that the community will join me in sending heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jenny Ledger who died recently.
Jenny was the manager at the shop at Halfway Toyota, Widenham and during lockdown we became friends.
I would go along to feed the stray cats and she would be sitting in the sun.
We had many wonderful conversations during that time and the cats and I will miss her presence.
