OPINION: ‘Re-opening of crematorium should be a matter of urgency’

It should be critical that the crematorium be commissioned .

DEAR Editor;

I kindly request your newspaper to investigate and report on the failure of our Port Shepstone crematorium to operate.

Since the fire that gutted the crematorium, it has taken seemingly forever to re-build it and since then it has not been opened for use.

Now that we have this frightening Covid-19 pandemic in our town. It should be critical that the crematorium be commissioned .

I fail to see why citizens have to go all the way to Durban to cremate their loved ones at a huge expense and inconvenience, when there’s a facility on our door step.

This should be an urgent matter!
