Isaiah 43:18-19
18 Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up, do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
As the new year approaches, people tend to use this time to reflect on the year gone by.
For Christians, this can be done my means of seeking God’s forgiveness, making amends and looking forward to the future.
These verses encourage people not to enter the new year with worry or negativity within their hearts.
Rather it is a reminder that God is with his people and that he has plans for them as long as they focus on him.
Whenever one is fearful or finds themselves dwelling on the past, they can hold onto God’s promise of paving a brighter path for them as he is their refuge.
