There was an unfortunate incident on Pennington beach this past weekend when Arnoud and Sue Wienese and dog Boetie went to the beach at about 7.15am.
On their arrival they noticed another car with two women and three very excited dogs.
It would appear that the women battled to control the dogs, so Arnoud and Sue hurried to the beach and went straight to the sea.

The two women and three dogs stayed at the dunes and passed by. They were still battling to control the dogs and then turned back.
Unfortunately, one of the dogs broke loose and raced towards Boetie, grabbing him by the throat.
One woman rushed over and got her dog off Boetie.
Arnoud moved Boetie into the sea and noticed that he was bleeding from his throat.
They rushed him to Scottvet where Dr Debi Subramanian was on duty and Boetie was left in her care.
Thankfully Boetie is okay, stitched up, but no walking and swimming for 10 days and some TLC with meds.
Walking on the beach is risky – your animal should be on a lead and must be controlled.
While it is comforting to know that Boetie is okay, Arnoud and Sue are traumatised, as well as the owners of the offending dog.
It is not worth it to have an animal that is unmanageable. There are dog trainers in the area who can help out.
A trained dog, with boundaries, rules and regulations, is a happy dog (together with a happy owner).

Residents are horrified at this action.
Is there a reasonable explanation for butchering this tree?
I am told that the tree was not on the property – it was on the verge – therefore a municipal issue?

A young boy was knocked off his bicycle near the Umkomaas Golf Course last Sunday at about 10am.
This was a hit and run – a white VW Polo.
There would be damage to the front or passenger side. Did anyone see this incident?
The driver didn’t stop to see if the youngster was okay.
Fortunately nothing was broken – bruises and an injured wrist.
I hope that this youngster is not too afraid to get back onto his bike, which will have to be repaired or replaced.
Come on driver, own up.
Does anyone have any information about the unfinished bridge and hospital in Scottburgh.
Both have been standing for ages.
Whose responsibility is it to see to the completion of both of these projects?
The authorities appear to be quiet on these matters. Surely someone knows something?
There must be a reasonable explanation as to why these projects are half finished.
Does it concern anyone other than me?
The Sardine Run 2021 Golf Tournament is, once again, upon us.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic which has wreaked havoc worldwide, we were unable to hold the Sardine Run in 2020.
This year, however, the Sardine Run will take place over three days, commencing June 17, 2021.
The tournament will be played at Scottburgh Golf Club, the format being betterball Stableford on days one and two and an alliance on day three.
There will be daily prizes and overall prizes at the end of the tournament for the winning teams.
The fee includes dinner every evening of the tournament and also includes entertainment in the evening at Scottburgh Golf Club.
The Pennington Market at Relton Hall takes place on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
