DEAR Editor;
I wish to respond to the article by Shona Aylward on the fibre optics installations taking place in our suburbs.
They, the contractors have never provided leaflets to the residents in our street.
I have personally asked for this information, without success, on e-mail, SMS, phone calls.
Without permission, they dug up our driveway, which was unnecessary.
They promised to come back to compact it, and now with the rain, trenches are now gullies, gouged out of the pavements throughout the road.
I had assurances that they would rehabilitate their destruction, and to date nothing has happened.
We had damaged water pipes and also a damaged power cable – which were repaired.
Why didn’t the municipality communicate with the residents that this would be happening in their streets?
Lack of transparency, again.
Will we have the same with the 5G cell towers proposed?
I am requesting that they come and fix their mess and back-fill the trenches and compact the soil so that we don’t have more wash-aways.
When do they anticipate this work in our suburb to be completed?
Please provide the contact details and also who the ISPs are for contract review to the fibre system.
