Iyo! (with a big sigh).
What a weekend it has been, from losing a loved one to seeing a para (homeless man) getting beaten up with a knobkerrie.
We have been losing people we love from Covid-19 in the past year but at least they fell sick (not that it’s better) it might even be worse because we didn’t get to see them or attend their funeral.
But losing someone who was never sick or complained about anything is crazy.

I mean one minute you are talking to the person and sharing jokes, then a few minutes later you find out he is no more.
On the weekend, I lost someone very dear, sbari wami (my brother-in-law) to be specific.
Very humble, young, loving and full of life. A good father and a funny person.
He was involved in a car accident and lost his life right there and then.
It is hard to believe that a person can just lose their life like that.
If these kinds of situations do not make us realise how short life is and that we should never take it for granted, and live our life to the fullest then I don’t know.
And then I understand why it’s said ‘life is such and such is life’.
May your beautiful soul rest in peace Prince.
And then while I’m still lost in my thoughts on my way to the bank at Oribi Plaza, my attention was caught by a group of noisy people.
Then I see three security guards chasing a man away from the ATM queue.
According to them, they were asking him to leave because he was not allowed on the premises.
While we all were still confused and shocked as to what exactly this man had done, a car stops and the driver jumps out with a knobkerrie and starts shouting.
Aibo! This is either getting better or worse.
I agree, the man is a para and cannot be trusted because lately these paras have been harassing people at the Oribi traffic lights.
And according to the guards, they were asked by a manager to remove this man. Even though he kept telling them that he had money and needs to deposit it, they just wouldn’t budge.
So this man jumps out of his car, pulls out his knobkerrie and starts beating the para.
Aibo, in shock everyone gets scared and starts reacting.
The knobkerrie-wielding guy did not even ask what happened, what had this man done and just beats him. I first thought maybe he tried something funny with him at the ATM, but then I realised he was not even around.
So, because this man is a para and these three security guards were failing to move him from the centre, this unknown man just decided to beat him up not knowing what he had done.
Really interesting times to be alive, judging people from how they look and making assumptions that they are up to no good.
That man did not deserve to be beaten.
