OPINION: ‘Concern about warmongers urging Zuma to defy ConCourt judgement’

While we respect the right of every citizen to enjoy these rights, it is certainly not a norm to undermine and threaten with acts of violence and intimidation.

DEAR Editor;

Practical Ministries notes with concern and observations the robust manner in which the judiciary is being attacked and the rule of law being vilified.

While we respect the right of every citizen to enjoy these rights, it is certainly not a norm to undermine and threaten with acts of violence and intimidation.

The scenes which took place at Nkandla – it cannot be that a democratically elected president and government are literally held ransom by gun toting mobs of unruly people mocking and declaring war on the police.

Carl Niehaus and Ace Magushule should know all too well the effects of internal conflict and bloodletting where brothers turned on brothers and Practical Ministries as a church-based movement was almost the only entity left to bury, pick up corpses and attend to the aftermath.

Practical Ministries is deeply concerned about warmongers urging former president Jacob G Zuma to defy the judgement passed by the Constitutional Court.

This judgement is a clear indication to South Africa that “no one is above the law, from whichever party he or she comes from, and Practical Ministries with its council of elders welcomes this judgement without fear or favour.” After all. it Zuma himself who insisted on his day in court.

Lastly, we urge all people to remain calm and not fear and light a candle, and choose various ways to hold our beloved country in prayer.
