OPINION: ‘Friendliness proves to be key for pensioner’

On returning to the vehicle I decided to go to Coastal Cellular where I have previously had friendly help; besides anything else I was looking for an app store.

DEAR Editor;

I went to do a quick shop last Thursday and in preparing to leave my car I managed to catch my right index finger between the closing window and the door frame. Don’t ask how, I have no idea. Using an old till slip I bound up my wound and made my purchases.

On returning to the vehicle I decided to go to Coastal Cellular where I have previously had friendly help; besides anything else I was looking for an app store.

Shortly after I sat down a man came to the door asking, ‘who drives a Fiat?’

I replied that I did and he told me that I had left my keys in the car door.

By the time I got up and across to the door my benefactor had gone downstairs to his own car. He asked another man to take my keys to me, which he did, after climbing the stairs to get to me.

I guess my slight injury had left me a little less dexterous than usual.

Whatever the reason for my lapse, I again had the good fortune to be assisted by kind people.

We live in troubled times but the kindness of strangers is inspiring and is much appreciated.
